About the Artist

Cat Designer Verrier

Catherine Labonté graduated from Cégep du Vieux Montréal receiving both a Fine Art diploma, 2001, and a Glass Art diploma (Espace Verre) in 2002. During her school years, she developed many different techniques as glass blowing, cast glass, sculpture, engraving glass, lost wax image transfer and kilnforming. She was deeply inspired by cartoons from her childhood. Always kind of funny, the characters that she creates are a technical challenge. In 2008 Catherine Labonté received Montréal’s François-Houdé award, after being a finalist for 4 years. She also received a Niche Award 2007 in the USA. Since 2002, she has been actively involved in the glass and cultural community, creating and exhibiting a variety of original characters in glass.
