About Tissage Moutet

Benjamin Moutet

Celebrating 150 years of craftsmanship, and passion for weaving, Tissage Moutet has been weaving threads, traditions, and stories since 1874 in the South-west of France. The family-owned business—now led by its fifth-generation, Benjamin Moutet (great-great-grandson of the founder, Jean-Baptiste Moutet) combines tradition with modernity: working with a team of in-house designers, Tissage Moutet creates complex patterns woven on jacquard looms.

Tissage Moutet has been awarded two distinctions in France: the geographical guarantee “Indication Géographique Linge basque" which provides assurance that a product's manufacture is local and respectful of traditions, and “Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant” which is a mark of recognition from the state which distinguishes French companies who combine tradition and modern innovation.

100% Made in France.

Care Instructions

Machine washable. Avoid mixing synthetic cloth with cottons, as polyester can form lint and cause pilling. Beware of detergents with optical brighteners, which can change the colors of the cloth. Use alkaline-free soaps or detergents without any additives. (In France, Moutet recommends Marseilles Soap).

The use of fabric softener should be avoided, especially for tea towels, because it reduces the cloth's absorbency. Instead, try using a "shot" of white vinegar in the fabric softener dispenser. It is good for the linen and environmentally friendly.

Do not tumble dry. Remove wet to avoid wrinkles and creases. Dry flat or iron with a medium setting.

Bear in mind that fabric will shrink 5 to 10% upon washing. Absorbency and softness will increase with every washing.
