Este óleo sobre lienzo creado por el pintor austriaco Gustav Klimt se ha convertido en su obra más popular. La pintura representa a una pareja abrazándose, sus cuerpos entrelazados en hermosas túnicas elaboradas decoradas en un estilo influenciado por el estilo Art Nouveau contemporáneo. Se exhibió por primera vez bajo el título Liebespaar (Los amantes).

Además de la pintura, Klimt usó pan de oro, plata y platino en este trabajo. Se inspiró para usar pan de oro después de visitar iglesias italianas en las que vio mosaicos bizantinos.

El propio Klimt puede ser el hombre de la pintura, sin embargo, esto no ha sido probado. Si de hecho se trata de Klimt, este sería el único autorretrato conocido del artista.
