    Über den Künstler

    Kathryn Freeman

Kathryn Freeman is an American painter and storyteller whose work blends classical composition with elements of magic realism. Her paintings have been exhibited widely across the United States and Europe, including New York, Los Angeles, London, and Washington, DC, and are held in both private and public collections. She has completed significant public commissions, notably two three-story murals for the Main Public Library in Jacksonville, Florida, designed by AM Stern Architects. Freeman has also illustrated and authored books, extending her narrative vision beyond the canvas.

Trained at Brooklyn College (MFA) and the University of New Hampshire (BFA), with further study at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Freeman taught for nearly two decades at the Corcoran College of Art and Design and previously at the New York Academy of Art and Brooklyn College. She has received fellowships from the Ingram Merrill and Elizabeth Greenshield foundations, as well as multiple Maryland State Arts Council awards. Now based in Mill River, Massachusetts, she continues to teach privately, specializing in portfolio development for teens, and accepts commissions for narrative portraits inspired by Renaissance traditions.
