Through 154 of Paul McCartney's classic songs, The Lyrics unlocks the secrets of his journey, from his early days in Liverpool, to The Beatles' legendary decade, to his longtime solo career. Spanning two volumes alphabetically compiled, the first-person commentaries provide insight into the people that inspired McCartney, from his loving parents, Mary and Jim; to his songwriting partner, John Lennon; to his “Golden Earth Girl,” Linda Eastman; and even Queen Elizabeth. Revealing the origins of iconic songs like “Let It Be,” “Lovely Rita,” and “Yesterday”, The Lyrics also uncovers McCartney’s literary influences, like Shakespeare, Lewis Carroll, and his high-school English teacher, Alan Durband.

Including hundreds of never-before-seen images from McCartney's personal archives—including handwritten texts, paintings and photographs—The Lyrics spans 64 years to offer a definitive record of one of history's greatest songwriters.
