This comprehensive collection showcases the individuals and masterpieces that shaped the enduring appeal of the Art Deco movement. The Art Deco Style is accompanied by stunning visual representations of renowned designers and decorators such as Eileen Gray, Paul Iribe, Antoine Bourdelle, Armand-Albert Rateau, and Jean Dunand. From its beginnings in the early 20th century, Art Deco has captivated socialites, collectors, and designers alike. Originally known as "moderne," the style gained popularity among wealthy French fashion figures and international art enthusiasts. Art historians officially named it in the 1960s, while a new generation of aficionados emerged in the '80s and '90s, eagerly investing in the most exquisite examples. Curated by esteemed art consultant and author Alastair Duncan, this detailed historical account serves as the definitive visual guide to Art Deco's decorative arts.
