Drawing inspiration from still lifes by Danish modernist artist Vilhelm Lundstrøm this sculptural ceramic jug—handmade in Portugal using a slip-cast technique—marries refined simplicity with everyday function, picking up on the color palette and minimal yet mindful proportions of the simplified bowl, vessels and vases that characterize Lundstrøm's work. Designed by Nicholas Wiig Hansen, the Raawii Strøm Collection is distinguished by Hansen’s signature focus on shape being informed by function.

About the Artist

Nicholai Wiig-Hansen

Nicholai Wiig-Hansen founded his own design studio in 1990. Since then he has continued to challenge himself and captivate the industry with a diverse range of designs from chairs and tables to lamps and ceramics. Archetypal products – with a twist. Proportions and colours are always carefully considered and details are only added if they serve a functional or aesthetic purpose.

Nicholai is now the co-founder and Artistic Director of the Danish brand, raawii.

About the Maker

Raawii creates design with attitude. Versatile and always impactful, significant and sophisticated.

Raawii was founded in 2017 by Bo Raahauge and Nicholai Wiig-Hansen. The two co-founders describe the company as a dynamic life design. They share a deep passion for creating and seeing their creations take root and grow, and their mindset and work are guided by three core goals: creating well-proportioned products, producing with respect for people and society and providing optimal conditions for designers.

‘We enjoy working with like-minded spirits – people who are passionate about their work. Our goal is to facilitate quality. That’s why our door is always open, also because it’s important for us to keep curiosity alive; the curiosity to meet new people, engage in an interaction and create something new together. We are a design firm that aims to bring beautiful artefacts into the world – big design. We aim to create significant design in collaboration with great creatives worldwide.’

The design and passion-driven company is based in Copenhagen.
