Climatologist Ed Hawkins designed the "Warming Stripes" (also known as "Climate Stripes") as a visualization of our planet's warming over time. The progression from blue (cooler) to red (warmer) stripes portrays the long-term increase of average global temperature from 1850 (hoist side of the flag) to 2018 (fly edge). This graph is a beautiful way to display the terrifying reality of climate change.
A portion of proceeds from the sale of this flag is donated to the Environmental Defense Fund, and other organizations fighting on the front lines of the climate crisis.
