Exclusive

This beautiful art button, exclusive to the Chrysler Museum, features Tiffany's spectacular "Woman In Pergola with Wisteria" leaded glass window. A must-have for art and design connoisseurs.

American opera singer Lillian Nordica (1857-1914) was likely the inspiration behind Tiffany's Woman In Pergola with Wisteria. Nordica was lifelong friends with Joseph De Lamar, and he asked her to marry him twice. She famously sang the titular role of Verdi's Aida in New York from 1894-1906, and a photo of her in the role is remarkably similar to Tiffany's glasswork.

About the Artist, Louis Comfort Tiffany

Louis Comfort Tiffany was an American artist and designer who worked in the decorative arts. Throughout his career he forged a unique style that combined excellent craftsmanship with a love of nature forms and brilliant color. Though he worked with a multitude of mediums, he is best known for his work in stained glass. This beautiful design pairs Tiffany’s most famous medium with his favorite motif: the peacock. Peacock feathers featured countless times in both his personal life and his professional career. Renowned for their beauty, peacocks have both religious and secular appeal, making them the ideal design motif for Tiffany’s ecclesiastical commissions.
