Vinita Karim
Contemporary Indian artist Vinita Karim has lived and worked throughout Asia, the Middle East, and Europe. She infuses her nomadic experiences into her work, drawing on her extensive travel to depict vibrant cityscapes that mix the real and the imagined. Her vibrant, brilliantly shimmering landscapes are rich with her geographic and architectural memories, creating gorgeous images that are at once foreign and familiar. The golden sky of the Sahara, the forts of Malta, the ghats of Varanasi, and the constantly shifting rivers of Bangladesh all inspire her distinctive style and creative compositions.
An alum of the University of Stockholm in Sweden, with an MFA from the University of Philippines in Manila, Vinita's work has gained international popularity across cultures, nationalities, and generations. In a distinctive color palette of gold, red, and blue, her original paintings, sculptures and installations have been shown and collected all over the globe, resulting in over 25 solo exhibitions. For Vinita, the 'joie de vivre' of her paintings brings her ever-evolving exploration of ‘home’ to life.
