About the Artist

Molly Hashimoto

Molly Hashimoto is a Seattle-based artist, author, and teacher who creates beautiful art inspired by nature. For over 30 years, her watercolors and block prints of trees, birds, wildflowers, and national parks have been published as calendars, notecards, children’s books, and puzzles by Pomegranate Communications and Mountaineers Books. She fills sketchbooks during outdoor painting sessions "en plein air" and explores special places across the Western United States, including Mount Rainier and the North Cascades.

She also teaches artists of all ages through workshops in beautiful outdoor settings. Molly leads plein air watercolor and printmaking classes at places such as the North Cascades Institute, Sitka Center for Art and Ecology, Yosemite Conservancy, and Yellowstone Forever Institute. Her goal is to connect people to nature through hands-on art experiences. In addition to her workshops, she has written several guides—like Colors of the West and Trees of the West—that help others learn techniques and appreciate natural colors and shapes .
