About the

Johannes Vermeer

Johannes Vermeer (1632–1675) stands as one of the most enigmatic figures in art history. Little is known about his life, adding an air of mystery to his extraordinary body of work. Born and based in Delft, the Netherlands, Vermeer was a master of light, composition, and meticulous detail. Vermeer's paintings offer glimpses into everyday life, often featuring domestic scenes, intimate interiors, and female subjects engaged in daily activities. His exceptional ability to capture the effects of light and create a sense of stillness and serenity in his compositions has earned him admiration and acclaim.
