Die Fulani sind ein Volk, das in ganz Westafrika verbreitet ist, aber diese Ohrringe sind spezifisch für das Mopti/Djenne-Gebiet in Mali und nirgendwo sonst. Traditionell aus Gold gefertigt, handelt es sich dabei um Sterlingsilber, das von Handwerkern mit traditionellen Werkzeugen und Techniken hergestellt wird. Ausgehend von einem massiven Silberstab wird das Metall in Form gehämmert, wodurch diese Kunstwerke entstehen.
