Tommy Fox is a Richmond, Virginia–based artist celebrated for his imaginative, large-scale creations. He is the creator of Jumbo-Wumbo Technico, a 32-foot sculpture composed of whimsical shapes called “Splox.” Installed in the museum’s sculpture garden at West Brambleton Avenue and Yarmouth Street in Norfolk, the work is the largest in the museum’s collection. Its colorful, playful forms and outdoor setting invite visitors—and even dogs—to engage with the sculpture in a joyful, unexpected way.
