Théophile Alexandre Steinlen (1859 – 1923), was a Swiss-born French Art Nouveau painter and printmaker. He was politically engaged and collaborated with anarchist and socialist press. He is best remembered as the creator of the cabaret advertisment poster La tournée du Chat Noir de Rodolphe Salis.
