Yosemite has long been a destination for American artists lured by its grandeur and imposing scenery. Marguerite Thompson Zorach (American, 1887 - 1968) presents its mountainous features in somewhat abstract terms in Yosemite Valley, but the structure and shape of the iconic Yosemite Falls at the center is unmistakable. During the summer of 1920, Zorach and her husband William traveled to Yosemite National Park, where she produced a group of watercolors.
