About Maruca Design

Founded by designer Rex Maruca in 1994, Maruca Design is located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. Rex retired in 2020, and the company is now owned and run by women still based in the small studio on the outskirts of Denver.

Never mass-produced, every bag is hand cut and sewn in Colorado. All textiles used are woven in USA mills, and many of the warp threads are made from recycled plastic bottles.

Maruca Design's mission is to create functional and wearable art in a kind and harmonious way. Each season brings a joyous bounty of new colors, patterns and textures.

Maruca Design embraces the principles of the American Arts & Crafts Movement (1860 - 1910). The movement emphasized the value placed on traditional crafts and decorative craftsmanship. Its proponents sought to promote moral, social, and economic health by standing in opposition to industrial manufacturing.
