Idelle Weber

Idelle Weber (1932 - 2020) was an American artist most closely aligned with the Pop Art and Photorealist movements.

In 1964, she painted Munchkins, I, II, & III, which depicts silhouetted men in suits riding up the escalator at the PanAm Building in New York City which had been built the year before. The iconic painting captured the essence of the Advertising Executives depicted, and became the inspiration for the opening title sequence for the popular television show, Mad Men. In 2013, The Chrysler Museum of Art acquired the painting, and two others by Weber: High Ceiling—You Won’t Get This and Mr. ChryslerThose three were joined in 2015 by a fourth painting, Color Lesson VI.
